OpenMind is a two-day digital art exhibition exploring human emotion through the lens of AI.

This unique exhibition features AI-generated artworks, each created from a real person's emotional journal entry through the EmoEx Mental Health Companion, and shown with their consent. Running across two days at Silo 6, Wynyard Quarter, Auckland, it is open to anyone who wants to come.

Attendance is free. Donations at registration and auction proceeds go to Youth in Transition and The Runway Foundation.

About the artwork

Every artwork in OpenMind begins with a real person's journal entry. Through the EmoEx Mental Health Companion's FeelLog feature, users write about how they're feeling, and the app transforms those words into a unique piece of AI-generated art.

Rather than aiming for certainty or diagnosis, the works explore mood, tension, calm, grief, hope and connection through image. They are based on real human emotional material and curated into an experience that feels reflective rather than clinical.

Each exhibited work is shown with user consent.

Youth in Transition is a New Zealand-registered charitable trust working to reduce youth suicide.

They provide a secure transition pathway for young people at risk, helping them find a life worth living. Their work is ongoing, community-based, and entirely dependent on support from people who care.

Presented by EmoEx

EmoEx is an AI health platform based in New Zealand and the creator of the EmoEx Mental Health Companion. Grounded in clinician-backed knowledge, the app helps people understand and process their emotions through guided journaling. Its FeelLog feature generates personalised AI artwork that reflects the user's emotional state, the same technology behind every piece in this exhibition.

OpenMind takes that deeply personal experience and brings it into a shared, public one.

The app is supported by Heartline Connect, a growing community of therapists and mental health professionals who users can be referred to when they need deeper support.
